I know I'm super late to talking about books on a blog. There are entire sites nowadays dedicated to book reviews, referrals, and recommendations. Celebrities are starting book clubs and #bookstagram is constantly trending on social media.
So who am I to start talking about books? Well, I'm the high school girl who probably spent more time with friends between the pages than friends in real life. I'm the teenager who wrote three of my own novels as a hobby before I turned 17. I'm the woman who devours stories as a respite from staring at screens from 9-5.
Books have always been part of my life and because no one is one dimensional I want to start sharing the stories I've read here as a chance to connect with some other likeminded people.

This month, it's going to be a super simple premise; I just want to share with you the books that I've read over the past couple of weeks. We'll include both the good and mediocre and I promise not to spoil any endings!
But I'd love to connect with you all on this subject and get recommendations and start up conversations. Because Pinterest is my place, I created a Book Pinterest Board where anyone who is interested can join the board, save, comment, pin, and engage.

Books I've Read Recently
The Clockmaker's Daughter
Let me start with my most recent read... this is by far my favorite book of 2020, perhaps my favorite book I've ever read. I don't know I've ever been so surprised and satisfied by a story. Honestly, if you've not read it yet I'm recommending it to everyone.

The Two Lives of Lydia Bird
A lovely story by one of my favorite authors Josie Silver. It's a bittersweet story but tells the story of life after loss. The writing is sweet and simple for an easy weekend read.
American Royals
A truly fascinating, fictional tale about America with a royal family and reigning king and queen. It's an easy read with a sequel I'm dying to get my hands on.
Women in Sunlight
I picked this up on a whim at a used bookstore because the author also wrote Under the Tuscan Sun – which I'm ashamed to say I haven't read the book but the movie is one of my favorites.
The only word I can use to describe this story is rich. Rich in detail. Frances Mayes paints a picture of life in Italy that will make you want to pack up and move right along with the main characters. I don't know if I've ever written down so many phrases and sentences that gripped my imagination.
So, there you go. Four books I would recommend to a stranger. And I hope you won't be a stranger when it comes to books. I'm always looking for new ones to try.
