Cozy clothing will always have a firm grasp on my sartorial heart. I went to a college with a firm dress code: business professional skirts and dresses for every class and every event.
I don't know if I've ever dressed better for a consistent period of time. But six years ( undergrad and grad degrees) of Wall Street wear and I was ready for a change. Unfortunately for me, the ad agency I joined as copywriter had much of the same dress code so it has only been in the past 3 years of being self-employed that I've been able to embrace a simple, cozy look.

Every time fall rolls around and the excuse for sherpa and wool and fur (faux of course) is realized, I'm over the moon with excitement and find more and more ways to direct my wardrobe to beautiful, quality basics that lean toward cozy instead of restrictive. Because, you see, just because something is cozy doesn't mean it has to be ugly, oversized, thrifted, or stained.
I pull so many of my cozy inspirations from brands that have found ways to implement supremely comforting garments and shoes – like Sperry. Known for their classic rubber Duck Boots and preppy Boat Shoes, Sperry has successfully bridged the gap of so many styles – preppy, classic, woodsmen, Scandi – with comfort being at the forefront of their minds.
Recently, Sperry gifted me a pair of their Cecily Bootie slippers and although my plan was to wait until the holidays to talk about them, I'm going to start early and bore you to death about them.
If you're looking for a house shoe that doesn't quite look like a slipper but has all the superior qualities of a slipper, you'll want to get your hands on a pair of Cecily slippers. And as far as slippers go I don't think they're exceptionally slipper-looking. Meaning that on a cold day of snow or rain they'd be perfectly suitable to slip on under your desk either at home or in an office.
I don't always claim to know everything about fashion – I'll leave that to our golden girls of TV Lily Collins and SJP – but I do know cozy and I do know this pair of Sperrys won't be leaving my side anytime soon.
