We have been so excited to share this post with you all. Believe me when I say it has been a long time coming. We have had the privilege to work with some of the BEST brands to make this space exactly what we envisioned our bedroom to be: calm, simple, and cozy.
A huge thank you to Article, Framebridge, Floyd, and Pure Parima for the absolutely beautiful pieces to fill out our space.
While this post is not sponsored by any one brand, I was gifted pieces from Article, Floyd, and Framebridge to round out our bedroom furniture. A huge thank you to these amazing partners that helped make this room a dream. Some of the links in this post are affiliate links and I may make a small commission on them. As always, all opinions are my own.
"Before We Got Started"
So, let's jump right in! I didn't want to share this post without first sharing what the space looked like before and right after we bought the house. All three photos above are of our bedroom. Carpet ran the entire space of the upstairs, the walls were yellow, and the popcorn ceilings were horrific – especially because the ceilings in our upstairs are angular.
The house is set up with the master bedroom on main, but we loved the idea of essentially taking over our entire upstairs with personal living space. There are only three rooms upstairs – two huge spaces and a full bath – so during the renovation process we took off the doors to the two rooms to keep it all open.
It honestly works out well for us because guests can be comfortable downstairs in the two bedroom and full bath without needing to share bathrooms with us.
What We Did Initially
At the very start of our home renovation, our focus wasn't fully on our upstairs. Gutting the kitchen, taking down walls, and plumbing was a much bigger priority. But, thankfully, we were able to get the upstairs rooms to a very base state before we moved in.
We hired a contractor to remove all the popcorn ceilings in the house, including the upstairs, and we decided to rip up the carpet, even though it was brand new, and lay down hardwood flooring. Each wall got four coats of Clare Paint. Yes, four!
And then we moved in and took a break from working on the upstairs for the rest of the year. Earlier this year, however, we really wanted to take our bedroom the rest of the way. We already knew the big project of the year was going to be replacing the rest of the widows in the house – 9 to be exact – so, with new windows came new trim, and new blinds.
And, at that point, we were so close to being done, we decided to finish out the space. And we're so happy we did!
