Ok, so I know it’s not summer yet, but it’s also getting HOT over here in South Carolina. We had our first super humid day on Saturday and if that was a taste of what’s coming this summer you will be able to find me by the pool! I’ve been eyeing up one of the most recent warm weather trends –overalls – with some skepticism and some curiosity. I love the idea of them, throwback to when I was 10, but I didn’t know how they would look on someone my height – I’m 5’1″ on a good day. Finally, I made it to the mall where Forever 21 – my go-to for inexpensive, trending looks – had a few overalls shorts in stock. I bought the first ones that caught my attention, fully prepared to be back at the mall in the return line, but after trying them on I knew they were quickly going to become my go-to for summer fun.
What surprised me the most about these overalls is how easy they are to style. Because I’ve been loving minimalistic styles and colors recently – my wardrobe is slowly merging into a white/blue/gray color palette – I automatically paired this look with a simple white tee, classic aviator sunnies, white canvas tennis shoes, and a brown leather bag. Chic. Simple. Oh so versatile.
For a more elevated look, you can go to the total opposite direction and play up the whimsical look with chiffon to offset the denim, cheery yellow to compliment the blue, and statement wedges for a little sophistication. Add a statement of jewelry, like this necklace that I fell in love with at Loft to take your look to the next level or dress it down with sandals, a tank top, and a summer perfect straw bag.
