With the weather already maxing out at 85 degrees here in Greenville and National Picnic Day just around the corner, this past weekend seemed like the perfect time to pack up a picnic and head to the nearest shaded area we could find. There’s just something about eating al fresco that makes fresh strawberries, fresh bread, cheese, and a various assortment of other fruits and snacks so delicious.
Often I find it hard to pack up an entire meal in a picnic – unless it’s something easy like sandwhiches and chips – so instead of going during a mealtime we love packing our favorite snacks and enjoying a long and leisurly afternoon in the shade munching on favorites and sipping green tea lemonades.
And of course for us, no picnic is complete without at least three cameras in tow. (Does a picnic actually happen if you don’t photograph it?) Of course the answer is yes, but there’s soemthing incredibly photogenic about spreading out a picnic blanket and enjoying an afternoon on the grass.
Minus the basket and the adorable linen napkins and the food nothing quite says springtime picnic like a boater hat, striped dress, and a much less expensive version of this season’s ‘it bag’. Keeping a neutral look helps your surroundings to feel so much more vibrant and beautiful, while the soft cotton fabric of this Zara basics shirtdress dress kept me cool all afternoon long.
If you’re shopping for a picnic perfect gear make sure to select a basket that’s both functional and sturdy! The last thing you want is to be carrying a basket loaded down with your goodies and the handle break off! Choose foods that can go for some time without being refrigerated, or opt for an ice pack wrapped in plastic bags to keep things like cheese and hummus cool while you enjoy an afternoon of sun.
