Two Timeless Ways to Wear Sweaters

Sharing two timeless outfits using a new sweater kindly gifted by Everlane and pieces I already had in my wardrobe.

Like I mentioned in this post, my style choices this holiday season would be low-key, simple and more cozy than dressy. These two outfits are a perfect example of that style preference. I actually didn't really think about how to style – I just grabbed some of my most loved pieces and took some photos.

Outfit 1: Oversized Sweater and Jeans

Is there anything more classic than a comfy, cozy sweater and a good pair of jeans? I'm not talking about a trendy, fiddly pair of jeans but rather your tried and true, wear all day pair.

I like to pair skinny jeans or jeggings with a slightly oversized sweater fit. I think it helps balance out proportions. The sweater shown is from Everlane and is a lovely piece for winters in the South.

Everlane Oversized Alpaca Crew Review

Color: Heather Charcoal

Size: Small (runs oversized but not by a lot)

Fabric: 60% alpaca, 30% nylon, 10% wool – not at all scratchy

Care: It does indicate it's a dry clean only but I hand washed it after I got it in the mail with this wool detergent and laid flat to dry. It came out perfectly proportional and didn't pill at all.

Styling: I've found this one of my easier sweaters to stye because it's not too stiff or heavy so it can tuck/slouch/fold very easily to fit any style. Very easy to wear under coats but you could add a turtleneck or button down under for a bit more warmth.

Outfit 2: Sweater Over Midi Dress

I'm not a super cool stylish person – I've come to terms with the fact I value comfort over style – but this outfit makes me feel some type of way. I've worn a variation of it last year in this blog post and it works with boots, tennis shoes, even heels for a dressier look.

The Everlane Oversized Alpaca Crew works so well with this look because it can be arranged so easily with a belt and a slouch. You could even knot it in the front for more of a cropped look.
