We’re now a few days after Labor Day so my mind is officially dry cleaning and hanging my summer duds in the back of the closet. Truth is, I’ll probably be rocking shorts for another few weeks. But here on the blog we’re going to be talking about fall and transitioning to fall clothing so I wanted to post one final warm weather outfit as a last huzzah to summer.
If you caught this blog post, you’ll know that Lee and I visited the Lake Lure area recently to experience a bit of adventure and relaxation in the mountains of North Carolina. I packed mostly casual, active clothing because of our planned excursions: hiking and kayaking, but managed to squeeze in one dinner outfit that has been a staple summer outfit for the last couple years.
That’s right, l don’t just repeat wearing pieces in my wardrobe I repeat whole outfits year after year. If that’s not contributing to sustainability I don’t know what is.
I’ve worn this exact outfit to nice dinners, date nights, events, and if I remember correctly on our honeymoon as well. It’s comfortable, completely summer appropriate, and unique.
After a scallops and steak dinner we needed to walk off the extra pounds so Lee and I headed down to the Lake Lure Flowering Bridge. In full bloom it’s a sight to behold and one best experienced at golden hour when the crowds and the engagement photos die down.
White denim is a staple of many beloved summer outfits. It’s effortless to match, easy to wear, and a fun neutral to work with in the warm months.
My favorite pair of white denim has actually been from Old Navy. They’re a great price for the quality of pants you get. And with white denim (and my propensity to spill/ruin white items) I’m perfectly comfortable spending $30 and actually wear them to dinners and outings without fear.
To finish out the look I paired it with two staples of my summer wardrobe: this darling 31 Bits bag and my trusty Toms wedges.
Although it’s been a good summer I’m more than ready for cooler weather, sweater season, boots, and deeper tones. So with a Sayonara, Sammy we say goodbye to summer and move into my favorite time of the year.
Are you looking forward to fall or are you still in a summer forever mood?
