November Reading List & Book Review

'Tis the season of cozy reading and chilly evenings under blankets. October my busiest reading month, because we were here there and everywhere and I was in the middle of Throne of Glass - a 7 book fantasy series - and series always take me a bit longer to get through.

But, today I'm sharing my top picks for sweet, cozy reads that are perfect for late fall and the early holiday season along with a review of the books I've bought recently.

Throne of Glass - Books 1-7

5/5 Stars

I typically read 2-3 fantasy series per year and Throne of Glass was #2 for me in 2021.

It comes highly recommended via BookTok (although ACOTAR is the more talked about Sarah J. Maas series) and although it's written for a bit younger audience it was a super fun read!

The series is fast-moving with characters that grow on you and stick with you through the entire series. I get very invested in long series and was so stressed for about 80% of my reading time - but in the best way possible.

The one thing I would recommend if reading Throne of Glass is read book 5 and 6 in tandem to keep the story moving along. I used this guide online as a reference.

August Books 6

The Maine House

5/5 Stars

Do you count coffee table book in your reading list? I typically do and coming off our Maine trip this was the perfect book to keep the magic of New England alive.

I bought it up in Maine after following the authors for about a year and it's a beautiful book - in both words and photography - dedicated to capturing the design of Maine's architecture, the passion of its residents and the beauty of the landscape.

The Distant Hours

4/5 Stars

I've been making my way through the Kate Morton books - she's one of my favorite authors - and after Distant Hours I only have one left in her collection.

In full transparency The Lake House and The Clockmaker's Daughter are still my favorite books by her, but this one was an intriguing read with a few twists in the plot you just don't see coming.

500 Miles From You

4.5 / 5 Stars

I just finished up this darling story by another favorite author - Jenny Colgan.

Book 3 in her Scottish Bookshop series (although they are all technically standalones) is a sweet story of loss and love and letting go.

This absolutely made me want to visit the Scottish Highlands and tuck myself away in a cottage amongst the bluebells for a year or two!
