Introducing Home for the Holidays

I fully realized the holidays were going to look a little different this year when I saw, not long ago, a photo of Rockefeller Center sans ice rink. As a former figure skater, the Rockefeller Center tree lighting + ice rink is pretty much the best kick-off for the holiday season.

But different isn't always bad and home for the holidays sounds just about perfect after a wild year. This year, instead of pretending everything is normal or the same with content that doesn't really apply to so many situations, I've decided to fully embrace the differences and share relevant, respectful content to help urge us into the Christmas spirit.

And to kick off the holiday season – although it is a little early – I wanted to share what you can expect from me on the blog and social media.

What to Expect

Decor & DIY

I certainly will not be skimping on my Christmas decor this year. While I'm not quite ready to put it all up - we're still an after Thanksgiving family – I have pulled it all down and planned out where things will go. My decorating style is fairly contradictory to the rest of the South. I'm much more Rustic Scandinavian while Country Farmhouse rules supreme around here. So, if you're looking for natural, neutral, Scandi-style ways to amp up the holidays at home, stick around for lots of inspiration.

Creativity in the Kitchen

We may never revisit the banana bread level of kitchen encampment, but I'm going to say it's a safe bet that most of us will be looking for creative and yummy things to make and bake during the holidays. Some of my favorite foods to make and share will be in recipe form on the blog along with ideas of where to look for food inspiration.

Gifting & Shopping

Every Friday for the next 6 weeks, I'll be dedicating a post to sharing the best current and upcoming sales + gift ideas. I don't think I'll be doing full-on gift guides, but I do want to guide you to places around the internet - both large sites and small shops - where you can shop for thoughtful gifts for loved ones!

Cozy Comforts

It is with great excitement that I announce this year's holiday style guides will be all about cozy and comfortable outfits. We're ditching the party dresses for pajama bottoms. Well, maybe not quite that drastic, but over the next 2 months instead of sharing the typical event/party/soiree gowns and festive ensembles I want to share my favorite pieces and outfits that are cozy, comfortable, and chic.

It'll be all about the outfits you can easily wear to a family dinner and then snuggle up next to the fireplace in. I'll be sharing practical, easy, winter-ready guides and outfits that you can use as a template for outfits to come.
