(PS – not my house in the photo above – just a little taste of our style to come!)
We’re in the final stretch of working on our home before we officially move in!
In fact we move on Saturday and although we have our loft a few days after we’re planning living in the house starting Saturday.
It’s been a whirlwind last few months. For a little recap: we close on the house on April 12 and just two days later our contractor starting demo work to take out a structural wall, tear out the kitchen, tear down an out building, put in a sliding glass door and a few other projects (recapped here).
Since then we’ve had a ceiling team resurface the ceilings throughout the house, a flooring crew patch up our downstairs floors, sand, and re-stain them. We’ve torn out carpet upstairs and laid laminate floors throughout, primed and painted the entire house (except two downstairs bedrooms that I’ll get to after we move in). We’ve re-built the kitchen with all new cabinets, lighting, configuration and windows and have fixed some electrical and plumbing items.
While the house won’t be 100% completed before we move in the main living space/kitchen, our bedroom and office will be pretty much complete.
This week has been exciting because our countertops went in! We went with East Coast Granite and choose a beautiful white quartz counter with a bit of grey marbling throughout.
We’ve also been ordering and getting in things like light fixtures, our faucet, outlet covers, ceiling fans, new trim, and basically all the things that will finish out the house.
There’s still quite a bit of items we need to finish up inside the house and then we can start on the exterior with all of our plans – honestly I’d say we’re only about 40% finished with the work we want to do – but from what I understand the projects on a house are never really finished.
For now, I’m focusing on finishing painting our laundry nook – bye bye gross yellow/tan – and packing up all of our belongings for the move on Saturday.
I share lots more updates over on my Instagram Stories throughout the day so jump on over and follow me there to stay up to date until the next blog post update.
As always, thanks for following along on this little journey of ours!
