There’s not many things I love more than exploring new places and discovering amazing little cafes, hotels, B&Bs, or shops. Although I’ve lived in Greenville for going on nine years (what?) the expansive campus of Clemson University is not a place I’ve freqented. Last year I went and visited the Botanical Gardens , but beyond that I had never given much thought to visiting. But when I heard about a new botique hotel opening it’s doors just steps away from the famed Clemson Tigers football stadium I knew I had to give it a try!

The evening was hot and muggy when I pulled up to the darling little hotel, but the cool foyer and cucumber water waiting for me (and all the guests) added the perfect touch of Southern hospitality and vanquished the hot summer sun. From the decor to the adorable room keys, everything shouted “Go Tigers!” And while I’m not the biggest sports fan, I know Clemson alumni and fans will just eat up those little nods to the famed Tigers’ history.
It truly was the small things that set The Abernathy apart from most other hotels I’ve visited. Everything from the hardwood floors in the rooms (a major bonus in my book!) to a spacious and pristine room (with the best shower any hotel has ever had) added to the experience.
I didn’t have time to check out the workout facitilies or the pool, but guests at The Abernathy also have access to Clemson’s state-of-the-art workout facility – something I’ll have to explore the next time I’m in the area! But between the excellent customer service and the beautiful rooms as well as the convenient location and the amenities close by, the evening was a complete success!
