No fall season would be complete without a trip to an apple orchard. Fortunately for us there is an abundance of them just right up the road from Greenville in Hendersonville, NC. I was laughing because you turn onto an exit and just start passing them, one right after the other for a few miles!
I did a little research and scoped out Stepps Family Orchard that looked a little quieter, had a lovely view of the mountains, and sold apple cider doughnuts (a can’t miss). We got there about an hour before they closed on Sunday night and instantly wished we had more time to explore the rows of apples and sit on their porch eating doughnuts and apples.

If you’re looking for something to do with the children, Stepps backs up to the cutest little farm and donkeys and cows in a field are free to pet (but not feed!) and cute little activities like a corn maze, pumpkin cannon and tractor rides happen all day long.
The best part is it’s a quick drive from Greenville to Hendersonville, just about 40 minutes, so it’s a great day or evening trip, especially if you wanted to pop into the quaint little town of Hendersonville.
