A Lovely Little Charleston Weekend

Last weekend Lee and I spent two days in Charleston for the first time in years. To be honest, I’ve never had the best Charleston experience before, but I’ve heard nothing but good about the city in recent years so we thought it was time to set the record straight. We met up with one of my best friends and her husband for some rest, relaxation, good food and good company.

I didn’t want to over-plan the trip or try to pack too much sightseeing into the days. After 35 miles in 4 days just a couple weeks ago in NYC, Lee and I were looking forward to a slower weekend in a new place. We’ve been fortunate enough to have beautiful (read: 70 degrees and sunny) weather so walking the cobblestone streets of historic Charleston was perfect.

Although we weren’t going to be averaging 10 miles a day like in New York, I figured we’d still cover quite a bit of ground on Saturday, so I packed for comfort and functionality – especially in my shoe choices. I love the fact that there are so many great cute and comfy sneaker options right now. I made the best decision to purchase these Sezane sneakers in New York and have been wearing them almost daily since we’ve gotten back (including both days in Charleston). They are truly the best little shoes. Comfy enough to wear for walking days but also so fashionable and versatile. I’ve worn them with jeans, dresses, skirts, and even shorts.

I made the last minute decision to grab my trusty Banana Republic trench that I’ve had for a few years now and I’m glad I did with the cool breeze coming off the river. Pairing it with a darling little top from Beach Lunch Lounge top and a crisp white skirt (that I managed to spill coffee on just a couple minutes into our trip) ended up being the perfect little outfit for our first day.

There’s just something about Charleston that’s simultaneously exhilarating and relaxing. It’s a big city with small-town charm that’s hard to pass up. We ended up having a late lunch at Fleet’s Landing and chilled out in the evening with a pizza from Andolini’s in Mt. Pleasant – just down the road from our darling little Airbnb.
